Hi lovely people!
So, as my new snazzy blog site is up and running (thanks to the wonderful guys over at Fairly Marvellous) I am really going to make an effort with more regular blogging! Especially as I’ll be getting Wednesday mornings to myself from now on as Jay is taking on Noah’s swimming lessons, to give me a morning to myself! I can’t wait. As tempting as it is to just SLEEP, I will be trying to work while I have the rare gift of P&Q!
But for this post, I just thought I’d share some pictures from my wonderful weekend.
Every year, we try and get away for a long weekend with my favourite people in the world – my uni housemates and all our growing families!
We’ve all managed to catch up at various other points this year – but this weekend was our proper time together. I did write about our girly trip to Champneys as well last year.
We rented a beautiful converted barn in the Brecon Beacons to really ‘get away from it all’!
The only downside of this really was the long journey – not quite as easy when you have a baby in the car is it? Especially a poorly one! It took us about 6 hours with one stop off, which isn’t too bad to be honest.
I was in a bit of a mood when we arrived because Noah was refusing to feed, I think because he was ill and my boobs were EXPLODING! Sorry, TMI, but anyone who’s ever breastfeed will understand!
But as soon as we got there to be greeted by the rolling hills, the beautiful house and hugs from beautiful people – it was all more than worth it.
A bit of background to our friendship – us girls all moved into 227 East Park Road in Leicester in our second year at University, in 2003 ( I think? It was a long time ago!) Our house was a bit of a dump but we made it cosy and lovely and even had a shrine to David Beckham. I mean – why wouldn’t you?!
In that house we shared love, laughter, exam stress, tears, relationship make ups and break ups and many many many great nights out and house parties. And I’m so proud to say that I think our friendship and bond has just grown since leaving. I truly love them with all my heart.
And now husbands, boyfriends, babies and children are added into the mix – making it even better!
Their names are Elaine, Hannah and Lyndsey and they are all gorgeous, wonderful people.
So our weekend consisted of a lot of chatting, wine, a tonne of food, a great pub lunch and a country walk. We also all seemed to get ill during the weekend which is sod’s law, but didn’t ruin the mood.
Anyway, enough gushing from me.
But I will leave you with something we always say to each other when our time together is over to stop us from feeling sad – “it’s not goodbye, it’s until next time”.
Here is our wonderful weekend in pictures. Enjoy x
